The Magic Carp and Tyee Fish Hat patterns remain my most popular patterns, whether paid for or free. I thought I’d put the links to the patterns on a new blog post, to make it a little easier to find them than searching around old posts made months ago. I want to remind everyone that if you have any problems figuring the patterns out, please contact me on here, or on Facebook, or on Ravelry. I’ll get back to you as soon as I’m able to.
NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE THE TYEE PATTERN ALSO IF YOU WANT TO MAKE THE MAGIC CARP FISH HAT
TYEE PATTERN $5
MAGIC CARP PATTERN $5
You are also welcome to stop by my Facebook page to say hello, share photos of your finished hats or any other projects you are working on! I love to see what other crafty knitters and crocheters are working on.
I have had a difficult winter, health-wise, and have been unable to do as much designing and crafting as I’d hoped. I know I said several times that the new Pokémon patterns would be available very soon, and I haven’t been able to finish them as I’d planned. Nonetheless, I’m hoping that with warmer weather I’ll be able to get into my “Grandma Wilma” boots and get those designs finished! I love designing, and Pokémon creations are so much fun to create and gift–they always bring smiles to the faces of everyone who sees them! So after just TWO ROWS are finished on the “Tea With Lady Grantham Shawl” I will be working on the new Pokémon patterns!

The new Week 2 clues for the knitted Downton Abbey Mystery KAL shawl were released Sunday. I spent a lot of time today choosing the stitches I’d use for my crocheted version, and figuring out how to work the increases in, etc. Now I am crocheting them, to try to make sure everything works out correctly.
EDIT: I APOLOGISE FOR BEING LATE WITH DOWNTON ABBEY SHAWL POSTS/INSTRUCTIONS. “LADY EDITH’S LONDON NIGHTS” WEEK 2 HAS BEEN POSTED, AND I HOPE TO SHARE “TEA WITH LADY GRANTHAM” WEEK 2, LATER TONIGHT. I WILL ALWAYS POST THEM AS SOON AS I CAN. I HOPE THAT YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THAT I AM AN OLDER WOMAN WITH CHRONIC ILLNESS, AND WHEN I AM NOT WELL I AM UNFORTUNATELY NOT ABLE TO SPEND THE MANY HOURS CROCHETING, KNITTING, WRITING, AND TYPING THAT A NEW PATTERN REQUIRES. I KNOW THIS IS UPSETTING FOR THOSE WHO ARE WAITING FOR NEW ROWS TO WORK, BUT IT IS SADLY BEYOND MY CONTROL–OF COURSE I NEVER WISH FOR THESE EXTENDED TIMES OF ILLNESS, AND CERTAINLY DO MY BEST TO GET BETTER QUICKLY SO I CAN CONTINUE ON MY FIBRE ADVENTURES AND SHARE THEM WITH YOU.
I have been having computer issues, on top of a few weeks of illness, and many of the patterns I’d hoped to have finished/for sale are in limbo. Computer problems are why the Week 1 shawl clues have not been put into pdf files. However, I will be getting a new copy of Microsoft Office and as soon as it is installed, I will be able to get the Shawl clues into pdf files, which I know will make it easier for everyone to use. I will also be able to get the new Fish Hat pattern finished, as well as several others! Thanks, everyone who is waiting, for your patience.
I have been able to get one pattern ready, and it will be for sale tomorrow, with a link here on my blog as well as on its Ravelry page: the “Molesley’s Roadworks Cowl” is crocheted with 200g of worsted weight yarn and has fun, versatile, removable fringes. Suitable for men or women, it is very quick to crochet, and uses a stitch I found in a Victorian baby sock design.
Magikarp-inspired hats, made from my design, 1 adult size ready to ship NOW …just send a message and I will email you a Paypal invoice and send the hat out in the mail as soon as payment is received! EACH$50 plus postage.

Coming very soon: 2 new Pokemon-inspired designs! One of them will be a new Fish Hat–like the Magic Carp, it will be another add-on to the Tyee Fish Hat; so if you bought the Tyee pattern so you could make Magic Carp, you won’t need to purchase it again! There will be a really exciting, fun variation of the pattern to make, too.
The second design will be an accessory that will make a perfect gift to make for a Pokemon-fan friend for a Christmas present–or for yourself!
I hope to have both designs available by early next week–so check back soon to see if they are ready for downloading! The Facebook Page will be the first place I announce the new designs, so become a fan, ‘Like’ the page and watch the news feed!

The Tyee Fish Hat pattern is finally back online; there is also a Variation available–the Magic Carp Fish Hat pattern! NOTE: you must have the Tyee Fish Hat pattern to make the Magic Carp Hat. Buy now as an instant Pdf download! Look on the “PATTERNS” page or in my Ravelry Store
Doesn’t the new hat look fun? Make it for a Pokemon fan or collector as a birthday or Christmas gift, or make it for yourself! It’s sure to bring smiles to all who see you wearing it. The fun photos of the Magic Carp Fish Hat were taken at Courtenay Antiques, using their fabulous model, but you will look just as happy in the Magic Carp Fish Hat!For those of you who don’t crochet, Magic Carp Hats are available to purchase on the “For Sale” page. Currently they ship about 7-10 days after you order one. If you’d like one made larger or smaller, or as a shorter “beanie” style, send me a message on the “Contact” form at the bottom of the For Sale Page! Hats are $50
The Tyee Fish Hat pattern is no longer free. I’ve had to spend so many hours tracking down illegally shared files online and contact share-filing companies and blog-owners that I decided to charge a little for the pattern to compensate a little for my time. I have had to request removal of the files as many as 4 times before my pattern was removed. The pattern has been downloaded many hundreds of times–so I know people have enjoyed having it available. I hope that crocheters will feel it is worthwhile to pay a little for all the time I’ve taken over the past couple of years–in designing, writing, then sharing the pattern.
However, I am keeping the pattern for the Tyee Fish Hat lower priced than Fish Hat Variations AND other hat patterns I will be adding to the Pattern Page! I decided to sell the Variations as separate additions to the Tyee pattern so that if you only want to make the original fish hat you can do so at a very reasonable cost. I’m sure there are other free patterns available if you don’t choose to pay for the Tyee pattern or can’t afford to do so–I’m living on Disability Benefits so I do know that sometimes even $3.50 is “too much.”
I’ve had numerous requests for a pattern to make a hat similar to these ones that were shared on my Ravelry Tyee Fish Hat pattern projects page:
Hence, I wrote out the Magic Carp Hat Pattern; it is $5 on the Patterns page. You follow the directions for the Tyee Fish Hat, then use the Magic Carp Hat pattern to make the tail and fins, eyes and barbels. There are tons of photos to help make the directions easy to follow. It takes longer to make this hat than a beanie or toque, as it is about 20-23″ long–and the bits and pieces take time to make and sew on, too! It can take 4-6 hours to make one, depending on how fast you crochet!
If you enjoy making Fish Hats, keep an eye out for the next Variation, coming soon!
Sept 8, 2013: The Tyee Fish Hat pattern is back online, but it is no longer free. However, I am charging a smaller amount for the Tyee Fish Hat pattern than for other hat patterns. You can look in the “Patterns” page to find out how to order it. And the Tyee Hat is now joined by another Fishy friend, the Magic Carp! The new pattern is ready, after numerous requests to write out the instructions to make this variation. NOTE: if you want to make the “Magic Carp Fish Hat” you MUST HAVE the Tyee Fish Hat pattern ALSO.
